How was your Christmas everyone?!? Mine was pretty good. Lotsa food and parties. That's what i love about x'mas, great food, families and friends get together and gifts. The family reunion is what i love most about x'mas. It is so much fun to have the whole family gathered and just sharing some wacky jokes and even making fun of each other.
Although my entire family celebrates x'mas, i still miss my other family back home. It's customary for every filipino family to celebrate the noche buena. So, i had to make sure i didn't forget to wake up early on the morning of dec 24th despite being so groggy having slept for only 5 hrs. Amazing the phone lines weren't as busy as i was expecting it to be. I got thru pretty easy and of course everyone was lined up to talk to me!!! WOPEE! I got to talk to my nephews and nieces all of them who i miss a lot, my tito & tita olive, ate menchu, ate shelley, kuya resty, and the one i seldom get to talk to...Manang Tinay!!!!
Manang Tinay is my yaya. She took care of me until i graduated college. She'd wake up early in the morning just to prepare my breakfast and sometimes my baon. Manang is a rich yaya!!! HA! HA! When i run out of allowance i would ask money from her and she'd give it to me without having second thoughts. I miss her especially when i'm sick. Every time i'm sick Manang would always bring me food in bed. No need to get up, just phone her up and she'll come with a tray ready with everything. She would even cook me my special lugaw. HEHE! No wonder i miss her. When i spoke to her the other day her words were, "Sir Egbert, Merry X'mas!!!" I always tell her not to call me Sir Egbert because i never want to be treated as such. She's more of an older sister to me than someone who works for us. Maybe in my mind, i'm still the young Egbert and i still look up to her as the yaya i have to follow. One day, i would like her to come to the States for vacation and show her around.
And it's no surprise that i still miss home. Next x'mas who knows this could be a different story.
I took the-day-after-xmas off so i can rest but yesterday i was sick as a dog and spent the whole day dozing off. The meds i took put me to sleep. It was good though, my body felt tired. And then i woke up to a loud rumbling sound of thunder and lightning. This was around 2:30 in the morning and then i heard on the roof a loud noise as if stones were coming down from heaven. YES! but they weren't stones but hail. It actually hailed twice this year. First thing i was so concerned about was having dents in my car. I was hoping that the ice coming down were not as big as a cube of ice. Thank God it wasn't.
Now, we are back to work. The freeway is light. The parking spaces are abundant. The people are not around...then why do we have to show up for work?!? THAT'S what you CALL, LIFE!!!!
Later everyone!
