My First Ever Attempt at Cooking Pancit Canton

Not a lot of people know that Pancit Canton is one of my favorite Filipino dishes. Unfortunately though, i grew up eating mostly the instant pancit canton you buy from the grocery. Then just recently i saw this great website that gives you a lot of Filipino recipes but with a twist, more of the Asian fusion type of cooking.

I got really excited and really wanted to try out the recipes on the website, one of them is my favorite...pancit canton. So on my way home, i dropped by the market to buy all the ingredients i needed. Wow! It turned out really good and yummy! It probably would have cost me less to buy it from the restaurant but the thrill of making it is just fantastic especially when it turns out to be good!

Don't worry, i saved some for you...here it is..he! he! of course i have to take a pic..this is my first time to do it! Ha! Ha! My momma must be so proud of me Ha! Ha!

"You know you have the same name as my father and nephew"

"Thanks! Glad to know that as rare as my name seems to be, there are still people out there who has the same name as me" "Isn't that amazing?" (Me being very happy)

"Oh yeah, that's why i remember your name, it brings back so many good memories about my father" "I'm not sure why they need to call him Eddie, his name is really Edward"

"Thanks Edward!" (Ha! Ha! I'm glad to make you very happy but my name is Egbert...not Edward)

A bag of doritos...$1
A new winter jacket.....$40
Someone calling you a different name and thinking it was your real name........PRICELESS!

Ha! Ha! Ha!

People always call me Edward. Almost always. No matter how slow and how clear i pronounce my name, it's still Edward to their ears. One day i went to Rubios, because i was so tired of being called so many names, i decided to use one that nobody would fail to recognize...

"What's your name sir?"

"Mark"

after 5 mins...

"Mark, Mark, your order is ready!"

I got out of Rubios very happy! They finally got my name right! Ha! Ha!

God bless y'all!!!!!

Me, Myself & My Music

As early as 7 years old i had the opportunity to be trained in music. I had my first piano recital at the age of 7 and have learned to love my craft. Since then i have taught myself to play the piano based on observation, determination and willingness to learn. When you are young and is forced to go to music school, it becomes a burden to you, but when you have grown and have polished your talent it then it becomes a gift and most importantly, a part of your life you can't live without.

I have come to realize too that i have become music myself. The songs i write reflects the many things that we encounter each day, the feelings we have towards other people, praise, worship and even prayer. I'm glad to bring more colour to the important events of my life by interpreting it through my music. God has given me a gift that not everybody has, i must be very special in His eyes that i'm priviliged to enjoy this GIFT. If you take music out of my system i would go insane.

You could be thinking why i'm writing about my music. Well, i just realized that during the times that i am down, my music would always lift my spirits up. Partly because it is through music that we are able to let all feelings out and give us a sense of comfort. Notice sometimes when you're so down and you listen to any religious music and you're able to relate to it, that is the voice of God talking to you through His music. What about you? Have you finally figured out how God speaks to you?

So if you've got the talent, SHARE! If you ain't got it.....hmm...continue seeking what your other gifts are.

Em, the song i composed for you, darn........i think i can relate to it now. Arrrg! It was for you not for me! Ha! Ha! Ha! Better write something else next time, something happy. He! He!

I'm out folks.

Mystery Solved

Back in my younger years, though i consider myself still young, i had a collection of Hardy Boys. If you're not familiar with the book, it's a series of mystery books. I had a whole slew of those books and started collecting them everytime i go to the States for vacation. I still remember i bought my first book when i was vacationing in Brooklyn and i must have beeen so bored that i spent most of my time finding me good books. Think i was 14 years old back then. Yeah, been awhile. Also bought St. Augustine's book titled: Confessions of St. Augustine. That's when i learned sinners can become saints too. We all have a chance!

As i was saying, these books made me really interested in mysteries. Today i still find myself watching mysteries and detective shows. I find it really entertaining. The whole sleuthing thing just amazes me.

I may now say that Mystery Girl is no longer a mystery. Oh and did you see her comments? SHE WANTS ACTION! ACTION BABY! ACTION! God even left me a comment. See how my blog reaches up to heaven. How funny.

What is up with the wind lately? It's been blowin hard over the past few days and ...ha! ha! It just reminded me of a funny thing that happened to me over the weekend. I was rushing to church last Sunday. I usually walk when i go to church. That day though, the wind was blowing extremely hard. I could feel that my hair has been completely messed up by the wind. And i was right! When i had gone home, i looked in the mirror and i looked horrible! I look like i had just gotten out of bed and headed to church without taking a shower! No wonder people were lookin at me! ha! ha! Solution to this?? Baseball cap.

Then all day was bonding with parents. Dad made me a really good lunch. Deep fried shrimp, boiled eggplant, beefsteak and Sinigang. Wow! Just by the smell of shrimp you couldn't resist eating. Yum! Come dinner time, it was another sumptuous meal. Aunt took us out for dinner at Thai BBQ. It was just a day of gluttony. Ha! Ha! I need to confess! Ha! Ha!

Hope you will all have a great week ahead! Take care everyone!

The Seach for Mystery Woman and Her Accomplice

There is a saying that "Criminals always return to the scene of the crime". To some degree there is a truth to this. This is what's happening with MYSTERY WOMAN-my-name-has-a-letter-Y-in-it and to add spice to the continuing search, mystery woman now has an accomplice. The work of a genius.

See how Mystery Woman responded to my previous post:

hi its me again, so if u find out who ur "stalker" is, what would you do?
1:12 PM

And to my surprise this morning, another note was left:

Robyn Padilla said...
I see you every morning, before you go to work. We are neighbors but you hardly notice me. I will be waiting for you my sweet heart.
7:45 PM

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Well, Thanks Robyn Padilla for stalking me too. But please don't call me sweetheart. Find yourself some other guy you're gonna watch every morning and spare me from this. Ha! Ha! Ha! Nice try though, all my neighbors are Latinos. You could be in the wrong neighborhood and spotting a different Egbert, or you might mistake me for someone else. Thanks G! Ha! Ha!

Mystery woman, if you reveal yourself i will welcome you with OPEN ARMS and i'll give you a tight hug and if you're good enough, maybe you'll get a kiss. LOL Kiddin on the kiss part, or maybe not. Don't get yourself too drunk next time. Ha! Ha! And i won't refer you as a "stalker" anymore only for the reason that you are a friend. In fact, i think this is how you referred to yourself as when you spoke to my informant. Ha! ha! ha! Just trying to be consistent here.

Well well well..........it's been helluva busy day for me at work. I will catch u later people!

Mystery Woman

Hey at least i know the person stalking me is a woman! Ha! Ha! Ok so mystery woman replied to my post and her name doesn't have a letter "E" in it. I must have more than one stalker then...YIKES!

Ok, ok, so, does your name have a letter "Y"? hahaha C'mon mystery woman, why do you have to make this hard for me? HAHAHAHA!!! It would be really funny if the person replying to this post is really not the same stalker i'm referring to. hahaha! But i'm pretty sure that this stalker and i have a lot of friends in common.

Yesterday's question of the day: Egbert, what is your New Year's resolution?

My answer: SECRET......bwahahaha!!!

A lot of us have things we want to change or things we want to do or achieve for this year. I firmly believe though that for us to get motivated and achieve these goals we must do it in action. Enough for the talking, let's start to move and do some action. Action will only make it to work. My personal experience has taught me that for me to be successful i have to keep my mouth shut and when i have finally become what i want, then i will have the right to be proud.

As i was sitting on my couch yesterday, i felt some kind of pressure for the goals i've set for myself this year. Contrary to what i really want to do, these goals are putting on so much pressure in me that i started getting nervous about it. It seems as if a year is not enough to reach all the goals i've set. In a blink of an eye it will be another year without you noticing. So to keep it simple, i've at least set one big goal that i wouldn't let go of. This goal will be the basis for many of my decisions i will be making this year.

To help you achieve the goals you have, the key thing is....SIMPLIFY. Goals are meant to make you better people and not to punish you for wanting to have a better life. Though it would be difficult to work on these goals, they have to be REALISTIC. Take baby steps and slowly work your way through.

My brother left for the Phils yesterday. I'm home alone. Well, i always have been but the house seems quiet and no brother buggin me. hehe Peace bro! It will be two weeks of silence and peace. Ha! Ha!

Alright folks, i wish you all the best this year!!!! Mystery woman, you owe me another reply! Holla back at me!!!

Peace out!

For the meantime...enjoy some of our pics from New Year's and Mia's b-day!
